Value of Game Walkthroughs and Guides

Do they merit the cost?

You must be having fun if you’re playing these games, right? Why would you then require a manual or walkthrough that eliminates all of the difficulty and surprise?

Well, in my opinion, the best guides simply help you save time by completing some of the more tedious tasks quickly so you can get to the exciting parts of the game. They are not there to make playing the game easy or to ruin your experience.

Let’s face it, games today take up a lot of time. Even without the online component, the single player component alone can take up to 30 hours. Therefore, if you have to leave the house for work or desire a life that extends beyond the screen, it is simply impossible to compete with players who have the entire day to devote to their favorite game. The majority of us must therefore limit our sleep to a few hours per night.

As a result, there is a significant skill gap and the hard-core players quickly take control of the leader boards, leaving everyone else out or forced to flee when the top players are eliminated. The difference between the typical player and the obsessive gamers is growing ever wider. There is simply no way that you will ever come close to the top 10 positions, much less the top three.

This is when, in my opinion, a high-quality game guide really shines. And there are a few good reasons why I feel this way:

Number one – these guides are written by the exact same players who usually dominate the leader boards, and second this is their job.

You must therefore pay a small fee for the guide, but this fee is precisely the reason the guide’s authors are able to concentrate on creating (and maintaining) the best guide for you.

Today’s game guides are comprehensive packages that include text, video, screenshots, frequently updated forums, and occasionally even live streaming playthroughs on particular game mechanics like boss fights, gold farming, class leveling, and many other game play aspects.

Even if you have never considered using a game guide, think about what would be the best use of your time and effort the next time you are stuck and not making any progress because you only have a few hours each night to figure out the next best move or gather gold for the auction houses.

Maybe you could simplify your play in a simpler way.

or a shortcut that you simply missed?

The likelihood is that the answer to both of those questions is “yes,” and with the right game guide, you can have the advantage of a professional library at your fingertips (literally if you count those designed for mobile devices), which will prevent you from repeatedly slamming the quick load key in frustration after losing to a boss. Just take the guide, examine some fresh strategies, and enter again prepared to kick some demon butt.

In the end, you’ll get bored with the game or switch to the newest big thing, but wouldn’t you rather reflect on a glorious and thorough history? Happy that you were able to fully experience every aspect and detail of the game as opposed to constantly wondering, “What did I miss?’
